This is the second of a series of symposia on epigenetics and chromatin research aimed at bringing together the scientific community from Southern California. This two-day Symposium will focus on how epigenetic control and chromatin remodeling contribute to various processes that lead to cellular plasticity. The understanding of the molecular mechanisms responsible for this level of control is likely to bring essential information for future strategies in pharmacology, stem cell biology and therapeutics.

 

The Symposium will be followed by a workshop on emerging methodologies and the use of biocomputing in genomics and epigenomics.

 

This meeting marks the collaboration between the Institut de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM) of France (www.english.inserm.fr), and the University of California, Irvine (UCI), which has led to the creation of the research unit U904 “Contrôle Epigénétique de la Plasticité Neuronale.”

 

The Symposium is organized by the Center for Epigenetics and Metabolism (http://cem.igb.uci.edu), together with INSERM Unité 904, the Institute for Genomics and Bioinformatics (www.igb.uci.edu), and the Department of Biological Chemistry (www.biochem.uci.edu). Sponsors of this event include the Della Martin Foundation, the Office for Science and Technology of the Embassy of France in the United States, Zymo Research, New England Biolabs, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (Saudi Arabia), Max Planck Institute (Germany), Active Motif, Covaris, Biocrates, Cell Signaling Technology, and Leica Microsystems.

Registration is at maximum capacity, and we are sorry to report that we are no longer accepting registrations.

The registration fee is $40 for undergraduate and graduate students, and $100 for faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and others. Please make checks payable to “UC Regents.” The registration fee includes participation in all sessions, meals, coffee breaks, and a cocktail reception and dinner on the evening of Thursday, December 12.
